Austin Stay-cation
This weekend was a wonderful family stay-cation in Austin and a great time was had by all! Here is a rundown of the weekend events:
Friday
Matt and I picked Dave up at the airport around noon and headed with my mom to Whole Foods for lunch. If you haven't been to lunch at Whole Foods off of 6th you are missing out on a true Austin experience. After lunch Matt went home for a nap while Dave, my mom, and I went to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum for the IMAX and Dallas (yes, the old TV show) exhibit. Later we all met up at Sno-Beach for sno-cones - yum yum - and then made our way home for a wonderful home cooked steak dinner on the porch. After dinner we played Rummy Cube and some Wii bowling.
Saturday
We had breakfast at Taco Deli. I have never been here but it was a great place for yummy breakfast tacos! We also took a peek at a condo my mom wants my brother to buy in the neighborhood. After breakfast we went to an art gallery to buy me a print that I love, love, love. It is a watercolor of the view of downtown Austin that we have from our back porch. My mom has the big print hanging in her office and I wanted a smaller one for mine. It is lovely! Later on, my brother, Dave, and I went to a house on Lake Austin of some of my brother's friends and hung out in the lake for a few hours. It felt good on such a hot day. After getting cleaned up we continued on to Chuys for dinner and B-12 BINGO : ) Let me just say that Dave sure did have a culture shock at BINGO. No one won, but it was a lot of fun!
Sunday
We had a lazy morning with breakfast on the porch followed by some Wii Fit. Dave and I loved it so much that he is buying one tonight (back in NY). Later in the afternoon Dave had to catch his flight back to NY. When JetBlue works, it works wonderfully for us!
Now that our stay-cation is over I am busy working on a paper, cleaning out my room, and meeting up with friends.
Tomorrow I am off to Waco, spa day on Wednesday, and back to NY on Thursday!
