I am writing this entry as I sit on the plane from Austin to JFK. This flight was supposed to be Thirsday night but lovely JetBlue decided to cancel it due to “weather.” This was extremely frustrating because according to people in NYC there wasn’t weather to speak of. Additionally, they only said JFK and Boston were affected by the weather. Mhh…what about LaGuardia which is in the same borough as JFK.? Interesting. My theory is that JFK might have been restricting the number of landings BUT JetBlue chose to cancel the Austin flight no the Palm Beach one. Could that be because our flight wasn’t sold out? I guess they forget that people do have lives to live and places to be and commitments to fill. UGH! Let me continue to explain why I am frustrated: Many airlines have reciprocity deals with other airlines – does JetBlue? – Oh no they do not. This means that they cannot and more importantly will not sign over a ticket to another airline. The best they could do would be to refund my one way portion. Additionally, I had to call their reservations number to find an opening on a flight today. Lucky me – I got the last seat but I feel bad for the people at the airport who were told the 7 Am was full (I was at the airport trying to get another flight when I overheard them telling people). Interesting enough there is a JB flight attendant sitting behind me and I am 99% sure that she is not a paying customer. Great – bump the paying customers off – wonderful customer service. Not helping this situation was the CNN.com article that stated JFK as the worst airport for on-time arrivals and JetBlue as the worst airlines for on-time arrivals. Lucky me! Oh also – they have been tagged as the most “cheapskate” airline. I want to totally boycott this airline and I just might but it is the best direct flight to Austin (the other good one is out of Newark). This is rough because I really do not want to do business with them again at all. I have flown a lot over my lifetime and have never had a flight right out canceled with no way of getting to my destination within that day. Yes, I have been delayed plenty of times but never have I been so upset about poor customer service than I am today. Oh, one more rant. Today when I checked in my bag weighed 53 pounds. I was prepared that it was a little bit heavy and I was ready to pay $20 for it. Oh no – it is $50 now for anything over 50 lbs. I asked if he could show a little compassion since I was on a canceled flight and he wouldn’t budge. Even when I took things out and it was 50.5lbs. I had to take .5lbs out. UGH! It is $20 to check a 2nd bag or $50 for overweight – such a ripoff! OK, obviously I am still not over this incident…time will heal…I hope!
